The ‘Avstampet’ student festival is back

studentfestival

Avstampet, organised by the student association Stampus, is a traditional student festival that has been running for over 15 years and is usually held to mark the start of the autumn term in Helsingborg. The aim has always been to create an inclusive and memorable start to student life for both new and current students. The event took a break during the pandemic, but this year the Avstampet project group is working to revive the festival and give it a strong comeback.

What can you expect at this year’s Avstampet?

– Avstampet is an event created by students, for students. Visitors can expect student prices, a great sense of community, a strong introduction to student life in Helsingborg and an unforgettable evening. The event itself will take place in a lively venue with several bars, food trucks and the like, as well as a fantastic setting suited to large events. In addition, the evening will feature several artists. The aim is for Avstampet to feel like a small festival where the focus is on kick-starting student life with an amazing evening!

Why did you choose to get involved in the project?

– First and foremost, I chose to get involved in the project because it was an established tradition, but one that has historically been about creating a sense of community for students in Helsingborg. It felt particularly important to me to revive Avstampet with the aim of strengthening student life in Helsingborg.

How does it feel to be breathing new life into the tradition?

– It feels both nerve-wracking but also incredibly fun. We’ve had such an incredibly positive response so far to reviving Avstampet from sponsors, the local council and students in the city. It feels like we’re planning an event that will be the highlight of the autumn, but at the same time something that sets a standard for what it should look like in the years to come. That’s why the project team is so focused on creating the best possible evening!

What are you personally most looking forward to?

– I’m most looking forward to when our ‘big’ artist is introduced on stage and I get to see the audience’s reaction.

Why do you think people should go to Avstampet?

– I think people should go to Avstampet because it’s going to be an unforgettable evening. Great music, food and a venue for a ‘student budget’ in Helsingborg is something you don’t want to miss. It gives you, as a new student, a fantastic opportunity to see what student life in Helsingborg has to offer!

Avstampet is organised by the student association Stampus with support from the City of Helsingborg, the HBG City Association, the Tenants’ Association and Campus Vänner.
