Applying for studies

Applying for studies

In general, all students wishing to study Bachelor's or Master's level programmes and courses at a Swedish university need to apply online using The University Admissions in Sweden website during the national application periods.

The academic year

The academic year at Lund University is divided into two semesters (autumn and spring), each lasting 20 weeks. The autumn semester begins in August/September and the spring semester begins in January. The academic year runs from late August/early September through until early June, with summer holidays during June, July and August. The majority of the programmes at Lund University commence in the autumn semester.

When to apply to Bachelor's and Master's studies

Students applying for international Bachelor's or Master's degree programmes in English have the following application periods:

The autumn semester

Mid-October to January 15th for studies starting in the autumn semester (August/September). Note that a few programmes do not open for applications until December 1st.

The spring semester

Early June to August 15th for studies starting in the spring semester (January). Note that only a few programmes start in the spring semester each year.

In general, international students can only apply to Bachelor's or Master's studies at Lund University during these application periods and through the national application system. The dates refer to the deadline to apply online. After this deadline, students usually have another two weeks to get their documents and their application fee (if applicable) to Sweden.
